My Trip to Thailand & Vietnam

Arrived in Vietnam yesterday by plane from Bangkok> We are staying in Hanoi at nice hotel. Vietnams currency is dong> One Australian dollar = 11,000 dong

It is very hard to count> It is very busy with mainly motorbikes + some cycloes & car's> Cycloes are a bike with 3 wheels & a carriage in front & half a bike at the back> Everyone beeps their horn because there are no road rules & lot's of traffic & pedestrians> It's very risky crossing the road but the people seem to avoid people & other traffic.

My trip to Thailand

Back at Haad Rin this morning after spending a week down the coast at 2 resorts. One The Sanctuary & the other Big Blue Resort.

The weather has been fine & hot with one night & morning of very heavy rain + thunder & lightening (spectacular)

I have met people from around the world – Stephanie from Switzerland, Brian & Laura from Canada, Ori from Israel, Michael from New York, Mat from England, Dirk from New Zealand & Tracey & Ben from Melbourne

We swim lots. The water is very warm & salty. There are no sharks where we swim. We have done some cayaking & snorkelling. People travel from bay to bay by long boats – 15 mins is 100 Baht

1 Baht is equal to 29 Aussie dollars ie can of Coke is 20 baht which is 70 cents

The restaurants serve a varierty of food to cater to the many overseas visitors

The restaurant Staff work 12 hour days with one day off, They work very hard & nothing is too much touble, Lots of tropical fruit on the menu – pinapple, banana, water melon, papaya.

We have seen tree snakes, gekko's, small fish (angel fish) & crabs. There are lot's of mossies.

We are waiting to travel to Koh Tao by boat – a small island in the Gulf of Thailand known for it's coral reefs & diving

My trip

Over in Thailand it is very hot. The flight took eight hours & Bankok was our destination. Bankok is pretty cool because they have lots of good shops & things are cheap. We stayed at Trung Hotel which had a very nice swimming pool.
